Pyat is Star Trekkin'!
Nov. 17th, 2008 08:26 pmI hate the new Star Trek movie already!
But I'm willing to believe I could be wrong.
And, frankly, I haven't bothered to see a new Trek movie in the theatres since Insurrection, which came out in 1998, and I didn't like it... and I didn't watch Enterprise, and I largely stopped watching Voyager after that awful mystery episode with the dog, which aired in 1995.
So, really, I'm not sure I'm exactly their target market, these days.
Darn kids.

Date: 2008-11-18 03:11 am (UTC)You are EXACTLY their target market. Anyone who is done and tired of Trek is their target market. Also, they want to bring in new watchers who never would before.
I do find that its the most hardcore Trek fans that want to hate this, and I can't seem to find anything wrong with it.
I am excited because it is Trek and its so not all at the same time. And Scotty was more personality than engineer anyways, so Pegg nails it for me.
Time will tell.

Date: 2008-11-18 08:19 pm (UTC)Its a Reboot. People don't seem to get that its not a sequel (and yet it kinda is) its a restart to the whole franchise. Clean slate. They can pay tribute to the original while making something new and exciting and hopefully building a whole new fandom out of it.
I am already eager to see what comes of it, but then I wasnt a hardcore Trekkie either.

Date: 2008-11-18 08:45 pm (UTC)The car chase was pretty cool, but I can see how Trekkies would be upset. I was a little confused as to why there was a car in Trek. Even in Kirk's youth a car would be a historical artifact.
I hope they explain where he got it. Perhaps stole it from a collector.
