From the wikipedia page:

"Critics have pointed out that the title, "...the Destruction of Jared-Syn", makes little sense since the villain is never destroyed and actually gets away in the end."

So...does this describe your old Shatterzone game?

Pretty much, actually. :) Like the cover of a lurid pulp story with the hero standing on a pile of corpses, which do not actually feature in the story.
