So, it seems the information that Palin didn't know Africa was a continent, despite being widely reportedand repeated by McCain campaign folks, was actually a joke from a fake blog.
So... way to go, McCain and Palin campaign? I have no idea how to process this information.
Edit: I suspect my memory of hearing campaign staff talking about the Africa thing is based on my memories of the FOX news report, which was false.

Eisenstadt didn't make the information up, merely claimed to have leaked it. The advisors anonymously quoted were the actual source of the leak, not the fictitious Dr. Eisenstadt. As much as I'd like to bag on Fox for sourcing so thinly, it would appear the Africa story still has yet to be disproven.
