Our first SCA event was a success, I think, and I am rapidly thinking of a persona. More pics later!

One of these days, when (miraculously!) I have enough free time, I would LOVE to get involved with the SCA again. It's been years... not since my first couple of years of university.

We used to go. A SCA person in Saskatoon made our wedding outfits!

What did you think of it? Was it enjoyable even after the novelty factor had worn off?

I went to the local arts and sciences a few times, a small meeting of women who were friendly. I started to find it difficult to find the time, though, and stopped going.

I think we actually only went to one event. Again, time a big factor. But also, getting to know people and feeling welcome was a bit of an issue. We did have fun that one time, but felt very outside of it all.

Probably didn't give it enough of a try. I was a bit uncomfortable with the persona idea. And I didn't have the strength at the time to deal with a new community's issues (as the woman who made our clothes said: always the same people, complaining about the same things - in reference to a problematic group within the group in SK).

I really like the re-creation idea. Such as, learning to weave and actually doing it or something. But who has the time? And, it also seemed a bit competitive (people's knowledge or lack of).

I think it would make an awesome holiday if someone did a castle up medevil (sp?) and people could come and participate in various roles - like a dude ranch, only way cooler.

So, there are some random thoughts.
