Alas poor Glimmerdim, I hardly knew ye. You were a poor Gnomeling Cleric/Thief, a loyal servant of divine Draper... but what gods smile on your bones, lost in the sewers 'neath Happenstance?
There was a Hackmaster tournament tonight in Toronto.
neosis lived. I did not. Let us drink libations to the heroic dead!
Also, I rolled 100 when making breakfast, so Glimmerdim had the added shame of serving charcoal-encased lard to his friends as his final act of questionable charity. But they didn't mind, god bless 'em. They didn't mind.
And in the end, I won the Tourney Prize. A Hackmaster PLAYER's Screen. Thus is balance restored to the universe.

Date: 2007-02-27 02:15 am (UTC)The con charged me $25 just to walk in the door at 6PM. If I'd kept my mouth shut and just paid the one-day fee, it would have been $15. But I mentioned I was there for a free tourney and just the evening, assuming it would be even less.
Apparently, "free tourney" means "we charge you another $10."
However,
He told me that the evening rate only applied after 7 PM. I pointed out that all the evening events START at 7 PM, so if someone came for an evening event, they'd naturally be there before 7 PM. The only way to get the "evening rate" was to arrive late for the evening events.
He promised to send the con owner to see me. The con owner didn't come by. And then, when I went out again at 10 to try again, I was told that the con owner had ben by a couple of times, and they'd forgotten. And then I was told that I'd "been there too long" and "no one would refund me at this point." I pointed out that I was paying for the evening events, which run till midnight or later, and then asked for the con owners email.
And then, magically, no one knew the con owners last name or email. So I ook it from a program, and went back to game.
When the game finished, I walked around asking for the con owner, and found him in ten minutes. He told me the evening rate actually only applied to the dance, but before I could say anything else, he said that since
Whereupon I explained this to the people at the door, the same people I'd been talking to all along, and was asked for $15.
Sigh...
