Last night was the first night since last Thursday I didn't attend or host a party. Tonight is [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae's birthday party, tomorrow is [livejournal.com profile] commanderteddog's Office Move/Sushifest, and thence into the interminable winter's night of nog, chocolate, meatball buffets, shortbread and overcaffeination that ends sometime in early 2010.

I have photos below the cut of the various events. For those who don't care, have a picture of a sleepy squirrel that I snapped this morning at Gage Park.

Oh, hi!

Alex showing off his newly lasered peepers, as Ani peeps out from behind his mane. From [livejournal.com profile] thebitterguy's party, last Saturday.

"Spill the wine, dig that girl!"

Munchkins!

[livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel and his lovely wife!

On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] nottheterritory brought over his daughter for a playdate. Then [livejournal.com profile] anidada and [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae showed up, and we ordered a staggering pile of takeout. Then [livejournal.com profile] mrs_dm and [livejournal.com profile] doc_mystery decided to come over, with their daughter, and there was much squeeing.

A tiny amount of snow on the ground today, so I took the girls to Gage Park for the first "snow" angel of the season.

We visited the Gage Park Greenhouse, which in winter is sort of like walking into the Genesis Cave.

Huh...

And now, back to the squirrels!

Took the words right out of my mouth. They breed 'em big up there, it seems! :D

They get handouts aplenty in that particular park. I was nearly mobbed by about 15 of them when I made the mistake of bending over with *nothing* in my hand to offer and making *come here I have a treat for you* noises. Scary stuff!

Like ducks in Beacon's Hill Park in Victoria BC. They assume every person is bringing them breadcrumbs and will swarm you (with a few geese in support).

He's certainly got some massive chubbification going on there but I've seen fatter squirrels.

I think the generally delayed winter helped with squirrel fattening, too. They were all gung-ho for an early winter, this year. Then it just warmed back up.
"Oh hey, more time at the buffet!"

The squirrel in the first two pictures looks like a puppet...

Those are some big, fat squirrels! We have a ton of them around here, but they don't look so well fed...which is odd, considering that we don't have a winter to speak of.

Great people pix and adorable squirrel! And he's the proper color, too! Not one of those insane inky black devil squirrels you guys have up there. *shudder* Those creep me out for some weird reason. It's...unnatural...like the black poodle in Faust. (Even though black poodles are perfectly natural...go fig).

Oh, and I say "bah" to your measly snowfall! We have 20 inches on the ground here in northern Virginia! A respectable snowfall even for you folks.

Happy Christmas, guys!
