Yesterday I was a guest at Hammercon, along with [livejournal.com profile] robindlaws, Jonathan Lavallee, and a gentleman named Darcy Burgess from Ottawa. I was very impressed with the con. Though small, and in its first year, it was very professionally run.

I sold a number of books and ran a demo of Usagi Yojimbo for a full table of enthusiastic players.

[livejournal.com profile] kores_rabbit came down for the weekend to visit the Mousehold and help out at the con, which is always nice :)

There were zombies. They bought games!

And catpeoples!

And gamers!

And Mr. Lavallee!

And [livejournal.com profile] doc_mystery!

We visited the Hamilton Farmer's Market...

Where there was an explosion of Wasabi!

Later, we went for supper at Slainte, a local Irish pub.

You know how to have fun at Cons! If I didn't have friends running Migscon I would have gladly gone.

It was good. Mostly for me its getting in touch with my friends who wargame and checking out the well painted armies. Its almost entirely wargaming and some boardgaming. Great variety and some of it looked really fun. Some kid was having a great time in a giant monsters on a rampage game which name alludes me. The dealer area has shrunk from previous year. I ended up picking up anew game called Arcane Legion and enough of the miniatures for two of its factions. I also passed up a good deal on Space Hulk but that would have put me over the limit.

So sells went well for you?

Black haired kid, sort of tan complexion, with a tall, bald dad? :)

Sales went pretty well! I sold five or six books.

That's what I thought it was but no, it was strictly a rule set and you find your own monsters, buildings, cars, etc.

You're welcome!

You were in the excellent cat costume, I take it? I see we have some mutual friends in common. :)

It was great to see you there!

I was impressed by Hammercon too, both with the organization and the variety of games they had. I wish I had been able come for the 9 am games, and had the energy to stay late for Trail of Cthulhu and that Zombie game that ran from 11-3 am.

Perhaps they'll try for 2 days next year? Or doing something jointly with MIGSCON?
