I popped up to the Hairy Tarantula today over lunch with [livejournal.com profile] commanderteddog and [livejournal.com profile] mbehemoth, 'cause Teddog needed six-sided dice. While there, we happened to run into [livejournal.com profile] j_cat, who flattered me by loudly asking me questions about RPG history. :)

And also bugs! I couldn't answer the bug question, but I tried!

EDIT: This may help!

My dice are SHINEY. And BLUE!

I'm so stopping into a dollar store to look for something that could serve as a dice box at this point. I'm starting to amass them and the little Chessex boxes are made of plastic that shatters easily.

We have an extra Crown Royal bag, too!

The history of the Crown Royal bags or not, I'm a bit surprised that people just don't make their own out of dorky fabric. This is coming from the point of view of someone who grew up a block from Ottawa Street so...

Actually, I was considering getting something that can hold/manage dice, hold a very small notebook for character notes... and doodles, can be easily stuffed in a bag for travel, could possibly be personalized and is not a Crown Royal bag.

I am actually in the process of knitting my own dice bag. I'm using a beach bag pattern from freepatterns.com, and knitting it with one strand of worsted weight yarn instead of two (and downsizing the needles accordingly) to make it smaller. I'm going to have to add a lining because the pattern creates holes in the fabric that are big enough for a die to fall through, but I think it's going to end up really nice. See here (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/kisekileia/fun-in-the-sun-beach-bag) on Ravelry.

I've considered something like this as well. My current container is ghetto. Its small box that once held ten plastic Orcs for Warhammer Fantasy Battles circa 1995.

I have an armoured pencil case. I've also seen people use metal lunch boxes.

There is someone who started up a small business sewing dice bags out of funky fabric, and another who makes dice bags look like monsters with fun fur and googly eyes and the like. Super easy to make for yourself if you're industrious. About $10 - $15 if you're not! :)

I've seen oodles of leather & chainmail dice bags.

Soft, liquor containing velvet is my favourite, though.

With family that work in a hospital, for a while there, I had an unused biohazard sandwich bag that I put my dice in.

I used to use a Pounce cat treats container. Not only did it hold dice perfectly, the cat would freak out every time I went to play.

That Ice Cream had me buzzing all along afternoon rush hour on Carlton. If I yelled at you patrons of 506, I blame the Cake Batter ice cream I ate...

This past weekend I managed to run by the Chessex table at DragonCon. I picked up four new seven-dice sets. I feel the love coming from them. n_n
