Jul. 27th, 2009 12:14 pmWhatever you may think of Hackmaster, I have to say that I really like the combat example for the new edition. The rules I can take or leave, but I like the way they've presented it as a comic.
Also, for those unfamiliar with the characters, those are the Knights of the Dinner Table. The art is meant to look like that. ;)

I remember futzing around with weapon reach affecting initiative, etc., back playing AD&D in the early 80s. We quickly gave up on it (along with other things as encumbrance rules, counting down every spent torch using a burnt wooden match as a token, etc.,) as being too fiddly and getting in the way.
