I blame a large part of my psyche to repeated viewings of this film on cable, without entirely grasping that it was intended as a comedy. I mean, I knew it was intended to be funny, but I was legitimately thrilled by the action sequences and inventions.

It's pretty obscure no matter where you live, I suspect. Though, the stage play it's based on seems to crop up fairly often for small theatre companies.
