Date: 2007-01-22 06:40 pm (UTC)Besides, you can fix the atmo scrubbers with bubblegum, clean sweatsocks, charcoal and a hairdryer. Every spacer knows that..

Mayday...losing cabin pressure fast...calling anyone...please help...This is Free Trader Beowulf...
Not only do you usually get a better Jump capacity for hopping around the Spinward Marches, but you get to emulate Han Solo and get in some smuggling along with the usual cargo crapola.

P.S. Still, Seeker's and Scouts are fun, and beats travelling as frozen corpse-icles with a 1/4 chance as ending up as emergency food rations.

Date: 2007-01-22 08:36 pm (UTC)Free Traders and Scout/Couriers just inevitably lead to the "declared rouge spacer and/or pirate" tag getting attached to one's official Imperial citizen dossier.
TAS membership is also more valuable than it may first seem; however, it's only good in "civilized areas of space", which is a limitation that the Seeker doesn't necessarily have.
(And as for low passage, they don't call 'em popsicles for nothin' my friend, "Oh! Look! We have more raw bio-mass for the matter reclamation systems!" "Yeah, and it has a nice pair of boots, too...")

Date: 2007-01-23 05:37 pm (UTC)Scout-Courier, man. Free fuel forever if you stay in the Imperium -- and you know, if you head out to do some actual EXPLORING (which is theoretically why they handed the damned thing to you), you're never gonna get a recall.
