As previously mentioned, today is William Shatner's 75th birthday. [livejournal.com profile] etherlad and [livejournal.com profile] sassyfae joined [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage, Elizabeth and I in a traditional "Shatday" celebration. They arrived just as Mr. Shatner's rendition of Mr. Tambourine Man started up on the stereo.

We had decorations. Above is the traditional Shatday Centrepiece. Gaze upon the majesty! According to legend, if you leave a ham product under the Shatner Idol, all your dreams for the next Stardate will come true. Note also the Golden Words of Kirk, the legendary recollections of the man himself!

There were also hymns. [livejournal.com profile] etherlad brought a number of Star Trek fan films on his laptop. The fan edit of Star Trek V into an actually watchable film was quite impressive. During the credits of a New Voyages fan film, [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae and Elizabeth provided an ethereal accompaniment to the familiar "AaaaahAAAAAaaaaAAAaaaaaAAAAH!" chorus.

A hunka hunka burnin' Kirk? The New Voyages were pretty cool, bad hair aside.

In short, a fine time was had by all. I ate a jelly doughnut, and some soda was consumed.

Um, I always thought 'shat' was the past tense of...well some other word so I am glad I read on past the subject heading.
Who is that in your icon? - it looks like Paul McCartney with a funny moustache.

Aside:
Elizabeth called me a couple times yesterday - she was yelling "I Can't Hear You!" into my answering machine. I guess she was mad that I wasn't talking back. I actually did get to talk to her and she told me that daddy plays rock'n'roll music and it's loud while she's reading. I asked, "Is it nice music?" She replied, rather indignantly, "No! It's too loud!!" :)

I didn't come up with the title, happily. I'm not that wicked. :) Kirkday would be just as good, I suppose.

We're still not sure what Elizabeth was talking about. I think she might have had a dream about it, or something. It's cute, either way!
