Frame by frame analysis of the high resolution descent video enabled recovery crews to focus on a smaller search area during their second sweep.


The stray rocket was found entangled on the corner of a roof, aproximately 105 metres from the launch site. Temporary allocation of a step ladder and broom from the homeowner allowed full repatriation of the Mousehold I probe.

That's impressively cool. Now all you need is a wireless video cam in the rocket, perhaps also with GPS. It just occurred to me that if you wanted to spend a few hundred dollars and sacrifice a smart phone, you could actually do just that. We live in an amazing age.

Estes does indeed sell model rockets with built-in digital cameras and radio locators! But it'd be kind of fun to build one on my own.
