Seeing the Forest and the Trees!
May. 11th, 2007 02:23 pmA bunch of us played hooky yesterday, and went to Mount Nemo to mark the various recent birthdays of various offspring.
There were trees ten centuries old, moss-covered depths, and giant flesh-eating birds!

sassy_fae applies bear fat to the brilliant white flesh of
etherlad, as part of some kind of failed experiment in fly repellence.

Into the woods!

Hey, Boo Boo! I wunner whats in those pick-a-nick baskets!"

We engaged in very sedate hiking.

The site is home to a number of Atlantic White Cedar trees (though they are technically a Cypress, sez Wiki) that are among the oldest known trees in eastern North America. Some are more than 1000 years old.

sassy_fae took the girls to meet the Wood Elves.

While I searched for the entrance to the Tomb of Horrors. I found a lot of moss! And a couple of enticing cracks in the ground that appeared to open into larger spaces.

View from the crevice.

I withdrew and sent the rogue to run a few spot checks.

We were heavily laden after we were forced to eat the mules.

Alex reminds us that the map is
nottheterritory. And in the background,
etherlad has found a baby!

Three friends!
