Biden has been sworn in, and now we're listening to music. Does this mean Biden is VP and Bush is president right now?

EDIT: This is a darn fine speech. Especially the bit about "not giving them up in the name of expedience."

I am 100% sure that the jerk-wing of the right wing is already claiming that, by fluffing a line in his swearing in, he is somehow not really president.

Yes, and if Bush is shot in the next two minutes, Biden will be president! (I had pondered this question a few weeks ago when told of the order of the ceremony).

THANK YOU

I like the fact that he acknowledged those who do not believe in god. Gave me a warm fuzzy right there.

I think he just has one, for big events, and they write it in cooperation.

Heck, yes! That one line made me feel welcome in my own country. Probably for the first time in my life.

I don't think he was the one who fluffed it.

Cheney was smiling when he arrived. It was creepy.

From what I'm gathering, he didn't fluff it, the Chief Justice did. Obama caught it and waited for him to do it right.

My god, what a relief it is to have someone smart in that office, for a change.

Yeah, this is correct to my hearing. He knew what he was supposed to say, and waited till the prompting said it. =)

Apparently he wrote most, if not all, of that speech himself.

Actually... this very thing was a topic for discussion on j.random.news-show as I was channel-surfing. The oath of office is a ceremony but does not in any way imbue the elected President with that office or authority. It's automatic.

At 11:59, Bush was president. At 12:00 Obama was president. This has actually come up once or twice in the past when Inauguration Day (Jan 20) was a Sunday. The office changed over to the new President, but the ceremonial recognition was held the following day.

He's retiring! He's been working his ass off for the last eight years secretly controling the government from behind the scenes. Do you know how much work that is? It's like, a 24 hour a day job! I'd be thrilled too, if I didn't have to keep puppeting those morons in South America held under my insideous thrall. Being Overlord is totally not worth the stress.

I'm reading his first book, Dreams from My Father, and I highly recommend it.
