At some point in the last few months, people have started uploading episodes and clips of Rumpole of the Bailey eps onto Youtube. God Bless 'em. Leo McKern is my favorite actor, sometimes. He has a voice like a nasal trumpet, and a really, really interesting face.

I believe a TV critic once noted that, come Judgment Day, he would be prefer to find himself represented by Rumpole rather than Perry Mason. It is possible I have just invented this anecdote out of thin air. Carry on. :)

I'm on the mailing list for a number of BBC merchandise magazines. I remember seeing some Rumpole paraphernalia, including a Rumpole mug and a "She Who Must Be Obeyed" T-shirt. Not to mention videos. My dad used to like watching Rumpole.

I think I also read John Mortimer's autobiography (I think he created the Rumpole character).
