Ghod (sic) Speed

As doc_mystery and various others have noted, Forrest J. Ackerman, "Mr. Science Fiction", is very ill and likely on his death bed. I just want to note that I had the opportunity to pay a call to the Ackerminimansion when I visited California this past summer (he was still having open houses), but did not. Something I regret all the more, now.

Regarding those impulses, it's something I learned very little. If an opportunity comes up and you think "Oh, there'll be another time" - there never is.

*nods* I learned that fairly dramatically when I happened to be in Newark Airport on a long layover. I looked across at Manhattan and thought "It'll all be there when I'm here next," and killed five hours reading magazines. That was in 2000.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Pyat! I know how harsh regret can be. Back in college I chickened out and didn't shake Chris Hadfield's hand when I totally coulda.
