There shouldn't be any reason why they couldn't be made transparent so to actually have them used in a pair of glasses, although having blinking LEDs that close might be seizure inducing. (:-)

I seem to recall comments made by actors in certain sci-fi movies with the helmets ringed with internal lights, that looked really cool on film but were quite shitty to see out of.
