I have no genius for wiring. But it works!

I've wired in a Sanyo TP-1020 turntable and Nikko NA-550 amp to the line-in on the Fortress computer. I don't know where the wires begin and end, but something seems to be working...

Mmm, vintage goodness. :)

And analog VU meters too!

Sweet.

A working turntable hooked up for digital recording! Nice!! I believe I know how to do the wiring, but my turn table steadfastly refuses to play records :)

And I can use it to make MP3s of jazz fusion LPs!

I call it... "The Entire Basement." Which is just one big room, with a couple of little sub-areas I've built myself. It is cold and haunted by centipedes, and full of bits and pieces of this and that.

If it were all that crowded with machines and wiring, I'd find it strangely pleasant. It has the look of a place where Things are Made. But the cold and centipedes do some damage to the fantasy, I have to admit.

I find it very pleasant. I've strung Christmas lights in the bathroom stall, and hung various mementos, etc. If you watch my most recent "Pyat's Fortress" ep on Youtube, I'm seated at that computer with a wall of books and such behind me.

The cold kills the centipedes, and when I break out the little electric space heaters, I can make various corners of the space very cozy.

I wish houses down here had basements. The basement is such an awesome place... You get so much extra square footage for storage, building of mad scientist labs, and so on.

Over here the water table is so shallow that if you tried to build a basement, it would flood the instant it stopped being waterproof.

Bloody hell, all you'd need is a Coco II with exposed innards wired into all of that to truly place the scene into an over-the-top display of technophilic surreality.

Well, there is a TI-94/a around here, somewhere...
