Fall Cons

Another fall is upon us, and once again I find myself feeling an intense desire to go to Ambercon Northwest. They have game slots based on Winnie the Pooh! It's a relaxed gaming convention at a resort hotel in the Pacific Northwest in the fall, with nature trails and everything. How can you lose?

I was invited to Phantasm in Peterborough this weekend, but it seems I won't be able to swing it this year. Next year for sure!

And Phantasm has slots based on Smurfs! ( not that it's any patch on Winnie the Pooh) although knowing the GM, i doubt it's safe for children. I'm still trying to talk him into running 'It's the Great Cthulhu, Charlie Brown'

Ambercon?

Seriously? A whole con dedicated to Zelazny's Amber series, and Wujick's game based thereof?

I mean, I liked the books, and the game was a neat idea (we could never come up with good adventures - the setting was too much of a blank canvas, plus we hadn't played Paranoia yet so were novices in the world of backstabby RPGs) but still - a whole con?

Apparently, they have a much more intimate and social format than other gaming cons. You go as much for socialization as anything else.
