I fell asleep on the train home today, while reading Out of the Silent Planet. I was very tired. I woke up at Oakville, with a clear memory of walking upwards towards the cold upper plains of Malacandra, to Augray's Tower.

That was pretty cool.

How cool! I've just been thinking about dreams and how some of them stay with you for a long time.

*nods!* I read this particular book a dozen or more times in grade school, so the narrative seems to have worn a groove in my brain...

I guess dreams can wear their own grooves, too. I have recurring dreams about a couple of different dreamscape locations, and they always feel so familiar when I enter them each time.

Likewise! I often have dreams set in a sort of fantastic version of my home city, with streets and streets filled with huge, rambling brick houses and bridges and observatories and the like.

You're lucky your stop is at the end of the line and so you don't have to worry about missing it -- or do you?

Doesn't the train turn around at Aldershot? Perhaps you could find yourself heading back to Toronto.

It does turn around in Burlington, but there's usually enough hubbub to get me up if I fall asleep. My real fear is falling asleep in the morning, and waking up in Pickering!
