Dear Sir,

I wanted to thank you for your very fine treatment of Judges Guild, and the kind words said of my father. When Mr. Gygax passed, my father lay abed with terminal cancer. He would never again leave that bed. He was saddened by the loss of his friend, but later joked that he was certain Gary died simply to upstage him. The last thing my father wrote was a card to the Gygax family, it was the last time he signed his name. I am sure they are both gaming up there somewhere.

Again, on behalf of my family and myself, thank you.
We enjoyed it very much.

Sincerely,
Bob Bledsaw II

Oh, wow. I'm touched. :) This is reference to my most recent episode of "Pyat's Fortress" on Youtube.

Sweet heavens man! The Fortress has a season 2!? You didn't publicize it? (Perhaps I just missed it...)

On the other hand, you've bowed your season two ahead of Cringley's NerdTV's second season, so that's got to be a note in your favour!

I did do a video link, but it was a fairly quiet affair. And a fairly dull ep, really. :)

That's just awesome. How lovely that your tribute made its way to his family and helped assure them that their father's memory is alive and well.

Wow, you have a television show too? I'll have to watch it later.

I went back and saw the episode in question (YouTube had been firewalled away on the resort computers, and I didn't think about using my own laptop at the time).

You were remarkably diplomatic in talking about Judges Guild's reputation in the hobby.

P.S. As an aside, the earliest D&D module I read through is JG's "The Dragon Crown" (1979), which I bought brand new at the time. And I still have it!

Bob was an old friend, and I was just one of those gamer girls that popped up now and again. I miss him. How excellent that you heard from his family.

And from some of his associates, too. I guess they're passing it around!

Speaking of online tv blogging, Blogtv.ca was at Toronto Trek this past weekend. Their rep was complaining she couldn't get a signal in the location she needed to transmit from.

Yeah, that's the offshoot of BlogTV.com - the orginal .ca one is gone, though they look essentially identical.
