Also the artist's audience of the present was a small minority of people, all debased and vulgarized by the effort it had cost them to win in the commercial battle, of the intellectual and artistic activities which would result when the whole of mankind was set free from the nightmare of competition, we could at present form no conception whatever.

I am wondering in what miraculous universe everyone's needs could be met by everyone working an hour a day? For example, where would the food come from, who would grow it, who would move it, who'd cook it, and who'd clean up afterward? It would be nice to talk with the author and hear what they were thinking when they had their literary mouthpiece say these things...
