It is good to be home. [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage has been puttering about in the garden, which grew impressively in our absence. The girls seem pleased to be back, as well, though they miss their Aunt and Uncle (and Disneyland).

This weekend we ventured to Guelph to attend the Fairy Fest. This was sort of like a Renaissance Faire, except without any reference to historical accuracy at all. I quite liked it. It was a compact event, affordable, and very kid friendly. We met [livejournal.com profile] catsarah and [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae there, and it was good to see both of them after our long sojourn amonst the Southrons.

Elizabeth's Minnie Mouse hat and matching red wings garnered the attention of the Queen of the Unseelie Court, and her handmaidens. They wondered if she were a "mouse fairy."

Cats got ribbons in her hair! And possibly, bells on her toes!

[livejournal.com profile] hbruton sold us art!

Claire and [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae played the "What animal noises is Jenn allowed to make?" game.

Elizabeth, running through a maze!

[livejournal.com profile] velvetpage bought some jewelry, and fantasy art prints from [livejournal.com profile] hbruton. I bought Elizabeth some wings, and myself a giant pickle.

I had wondered if the Fairy Fest was going to be a "permission to wear lingerie in public" event or a true celebration of all pretty things fairy.

Seems a mix of the two.

We actually had a new rule this year at our fairy fest about costumes because of outfits like the underpants fairy above.

FaerieCon tends to be pretty open, though, so long as there's no "bits". The cute fellow in a loincloth last year was very popular.

(sorry for the anonymous)

What animal noises is Jenn allowed to make?

Does this include laughing or whooping like a hyena? Because I'm out of practice but can still do it passably.

And, how big a giant pickle are we talking about here?

Jenn did not get that far! Claire disapproved of every noise, save chicken noises, so we stuck with those.

And the pickle was... big. LIke, two of them wouldn't fit in a typical pickle jar.

Additionally, and completely unrelated but possibly something to use in games, I found out about the door to hell (http://www.slightlywarped.com/crapfactory/curiosities/doortohell.htm) as a link in someone else's journal.

That's a lot cooler than the door at the bottom of some steps in Nevada (or somewhere) in the middle of nowhere, that some people claimed was a door to hell.

I thought, for a moment, that the first photo was one of your back garden, and was going to say "wow! what an improvement!" 8)

Heather Bruton used to live right next door to a pair of friends of mine, who have since moved to the South...

I was hoping for a roast turkey leg, but the "troll sausage" was good enough!

Sounds like a fun day for everyone!

Especially for friends of the Mystical Short Pants Fairy!

Yes, it does look like my sort of thing. Whee, fairies and pretty costumes! I even like the lingerie-in-public part. *^_^*
