Today was Redondo Beach, Santa Monica Beach, Santa Monica Aquarium, and Santa Monica Pier... and a Jack-in-the-Box, followed by a long shower and a (hopefully) early bed.

I paddled about in the Pacific Ocean. They weren't lying when they said it was full of saltwater, you know. I also appear to have a mild sunburn.

All sorts of interesting things have been happening each day, but I'm frankly too tired to write about them by the end of each day.

Barrel-shaped torsos float best! I promise - everything below this cut is more photogenic.

[livejournal.com profile] summerfields (the female half) got pooped on.

The girls in the surf!

Looks like fun times with your young family. Sort of makes all those sleepless nights, fevers and barfing worthwhile, doesn't it? You and velvetpage are braver than us, though. We decided to stop at one munchkin (we like our sleep too much!)

Would you like me to get you a crab bag and hammer kit?

what's a crab bag and hammer kit?

I saw them at a little tourist shop on the pier yesterday. It's a cheap cloth bag into which you put your crab, and a little wooden hammer for cracking it. I have no idea if the crab is supposed to be dead and cooked, or alive and pinching, when you perform this operation on it.

Oh, so much fun! I love the girls' swimsuits. I want to get one like that for my Lizzie, and myself a rashguard shirt.

They're from Please Mum, which you should be able to find online, and they're wonderful. They're a big part of the reason why the girls aren't sunburned today, though the rest of us are. They're UV protective and there are matching hats, and there are a few other colours available. And they're made in Canada, not a third-world country, so you can trust the source.

Does the adult version exist? I would love a suit like that.

Ha-ha!! Yes, google "rashguard". It's a surfer thing, I think. I want one. We did the kiddie pool in the back yard thing last weekend, and I got a sunburned spot in the middle of my back where I apparently didn't reach far enough with the sunscreen.

Not at Please Mum - it's a kids' store. I don't know if they make them elsewhere. I've seen short-and-tank sets for women, though.

For a writer with small children and your length of commute, your physique is not bad at all.

1. You and your beautiful wife are adorable together.
2. Your children are quite possibly even more adorable than the two of you together. =)

The kids got a lot of compliments at the beach - especially Claire.

You should have seen Elizabeth playing Wii bowling last night, and Claire cheering her on. Anney got video of the cheering - it was so incredibly adorable. She was so excited.
