Been a while since I cleaned photos off the cell phone... and here there are!

In the men's room of the Honest Lawyer restaurant in downtown Hamilton. Classiest joint in town!

A Lada Cossack! They used to be everywhere in the late 90s, till they all rusted into garbage.

[livejournal.com profile] melskunk in a Tim Hortons, earlier this year, drawing [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage as lynx.

The day before, there was a NYPD police cruiser at this corner for a film shoot. The next day, a London phone booth.

I was somewhat disappointed when, finally locating the labyrinth in Burlington Central Park, I discovered it was a boring old floor one, and not an actual maze. I walked off before I realized that I could have Walked the Pattern and reclaimed my immortal heritage.

[livejournal.com profile] velvetpage and I took the girls to Gage Park on Sunday.

There's a free tropical greenhouse in the middle, that no one ever goes to. Here, [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage inspects what I believe is some kind of plant.

Claire wanted to take flowers home, so she got to ride on my shoulders.

The plant in question is a hydrangea - of the sort I used to get as Easter plants from church and then kill through neglect. One of these days I'll try another - it might work in our front garden.

No, actually, it won't. It may grow (as the one I got from my father did), but it won't flower unless we have a REALLY mild winter. The flowers come on the old wood and if they die back to the ground every year, as this type usually do, there is no old wood on which to flower. There are other types of hydrangea however that do just fine in out climate.

Ah. I'll have to get you to point me to one of the ones that will, then - I love them, and I've got room for them.

...what I believe is some kind of plant.

Yesterday:
[livejournal.com profile] quelonzia: Honey, is that plant under the apple tree an azalea?

[livejournal.com profile] athelind: I don't know ornamentals, love. My ecology training files them all under "weed" and "invasive species". I can tell you it's not manzanita, but that's about it.

Wow, so it's true that Canada is somewhere between Britain and the USA.
