This morning, I managed to lock my keys in my car, for the first time in 8 years. And, naturally, I had two armloads of groceries, and it was -6 C out. And, naturally, three of the bags broke as I futzed around, patting pockets in my coat and trousers in search of the keys, because I'd overloaded the bags, since I was just going "a little ways."

I was just a couple of blocks from [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage's work, so I schelped through the snow in thin loafers, carrying armloads of sundries. I got wet and cold, but also got her keys, walked back, and all was well with the world.

The day got better after that - a long warm bath, coffee / conversation / book browsing with [livejournal.com profile] catsarah, and some work-at-home productivity. And tonight there's a Valentine's Day concert, dinner out, and possibly some hardcore woo-pitchery.

And remember - the Provicially Mandated "Family Day" is Monday. Long weekend!

I just did that too. This Winter's been so mild in Philly that my snow clearing reflexes are out of whack. I normally lock the car by reflex except in Winter except when my hand's closed around the snow scraper. But not the other night. Luckily the wife and I work in the same university.

*nods* Lucky in my case that I chose to get the groceries close to Erin's school - normally I'd have been miles away.

Well, two miles. :)

I live in fear of locking the car with my keys in it. Even went so far as to disable the autolock (where be your fuse now, electronic gatekeeper!).

Glad you were able to recover quickly.

When I was a reporter, I did it so often that I kept a spare door key in my wallet. But it's been a while. :)

Yes - my provincially mandated family will be happily celebrating provincially mandated family day - possibly by frightening our daughter with dinosaur bones!

"...- possibly by frightening our daughter with dinosaur bones!

At least SOMEONE is keeping the old Family Day traditions alive, even in this age of Family Day consumerism.

Man, you know the only reason the Government instituted Family Day on the 18th was to steal yet another holy day away from the.. (checks Wikipedia) the.. Scientologists?!. Uhm. Damn. I was expecting 'pagans'. I'll have to retool my lecture now..

Sounds like the 13th ran over a little long for you today.

I'm glad the day worked out better for you as time went on.
