Erin who?

So, I've finished Masada and The Weapon Shops of Isher, books 6 and 7, respectively of the year. I am now moving on to Dream-Carver (2007), the first novel by Erin van Hiel. The dedication says it's based on a roleplaying game - one with animal people in it.

I can't see something like that appealing to me at all, but I suppose I'll give it a chance.

Funny, isn't it, that the photo of the author on the back flap is credited to YOU? One might think you know the author!

I'm sure that's just a coincidence. Pieter is a very common name, after all. Almost as common as van Hiel. (Well, I suppose it is in some parts of the world...)

Nope - even in the Netherlands, van Hiel is a very uncommon name. There are half a dozen families worldwide with that name.

Yep; I guess I should have been more obvious with my use of the <irony> tags... 8)

I have no idea who this Erin van Hiel is, but she has a really cool name so she must rock. ;)

Definitely. You should buy her book. I can promise an autograph from the author the next time you're up this way!

The only review I've found so far says:
An excellent piece of fiction. The characters are well rounded, the plot is interesting and the book is engaging throughout.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, alternate genre read.

I dunno... sounds risky!

That review is quite true. It was also written by the book's illustrator, [livejournal.com profile] redstorm. :)
