I keep meaning to point people toward Shorpy. It's an archive of extremely high-resolution photos, updated daily. The photos are all American, dating from 1860 to 1960 or so. The site owner gets them from his personal collection and from government archives. As noted, the photos are extremely high resolution, and record intriguing details of daily life or forgotten historical events.

A recent example. Click through and scroll around the photo - the Dan Quayle spelling of "potatoe", the bored floor walker peering through the window, the array of odd products, the discarded envelope on the sidewalk, the no-slip flooring in front of the sort... and of course the sort of nerdy-cute/plain doughnut girl!

[livejournal.com profile] commanderteddog and [livejournal.com profile] wggthegnoll learn... THE TRUTH ABOUT DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS!

Today was session two of the Werewolf game, entitled The Black Horse Resurrection. Many strange things happened, and many curious omens were observed. Sleepy now, though!

It's like Wikipedia, except all the entries are written by high school students. I've never seen a question on there that didn't have five contradictory answers.

For example - can peacocks fly?

Yes, no, only males, not males, I don't know, joke answer, spam, yes, maybe, "Here is a list of flightless birds," "This one time I seen a bird", etc., etc...
