...on the 35th anniversary of my birth.

Sunrise in downtown Hamilton, the city I've lived in or around for 30 of my 35 years.

Taken from the bus window. Hamilton has a self-described "Chop Suey House." That's sort of quaint.

At lunch, [livejournal.com profile] melskunk came by and bought me a lemon tart! Mel is cool, and we had a good chat and ramble about St. Lawrence Market. She's on her way to Germany for an adventure!

And, not pictured, but welcomed, I came home to two very cuddly little girls, who made me sit on the couch with them under a blanket and watch Fleischer Bros. cartoons.

"Elizabeth, which do you like better? Betty Boop or Felix?"
"Betty Boop."
"Betty Boop, or Superman?"
"Hmm.... Betty Boop, still."
"Betty Boop or Popeye?"
(Claire and Elizabeth both) "POPEYE!"

And then, spending the evening with a very cuddly [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage, who, it must be noted, is noticeably less cuddly in recent days, thanks to swimming and workouts. :)

I'm a very happy and blessed fellow. Thanks to you all!

She's not less "cuddly" so much as, perhaps, more "supple". ;-)

I am looking at this at sunrise here, at the exact same angle of sun in the first photo, and it makes me feel oddly close to you & yours!

:)

Love the ambiance of the Chinese restaurant corner.

I really like that first photo. The Chop Suey sign has always sort of amused me, but it IS wildly anachronistic. And full points for Fleischer Bros cartoons.

Lee.

It's a little late, but Happy Birthday.

When I was their age, it was Popeye for me, too.

I missed your birthday?
You're 35?
There's lots going on I don't know about...

Sounds like it was a great day. Who do we trust now that we're over 30?

Thanks, Colleen!

The early Popeyes are probably some of the funniest cartoons I've ever seen.

You did!
I am!

And, I take the advice from the Paranoia RPG:

Stay Alert!
Trust no one!
Keep your laser handy!

I'd ask "An adventure in Germany? With looking for evidence of the Grail taken by Cathar refugees in crypts under Bavarian castles, in a desperate race against Nazis and their zombie allies? And with maybe a climatic fight atop a zeppelin?"

... but then, y'know, I should probably ask her about it.

I understand there will be at least one castle and crypt involved in her adventure! :)
