I should note that, when I got off the train this morning, a large raccoon came running out of a condo parking lot and darted across Front Street.

I've seen raccoons in the city, too. I also saw a skunk once when my parents were driving me through north Toronto on the way to Brampton.

Toronto raccoons are not to be taken lightly.

"Eeeeeeyah - those are sure some nice garbage cans, ain't they? Would be a terrible shame was... something ta... happen to 'em, wouldn't it?"

"Hehehe yeah, you know we knew a guy who had a lockable garbage can... didn't we Lenny?"
"Yeah boss - yeah, we did."
"Yeah - shame about what happened to old Mr. Lock Up The Garbage, wasn't it?"
*sound of cracking knuckles *

Sort of an impromptu one, maybe!

This was deeper downtown than I've ever seen one - no greenspace around at all!

CBC's cartoon was a complete whitewash of the species!

Even that skunk was in a part of Toronto that's still pretty urban, I believe. I also saw a raccoon by Robarts Library at U of T a few years ago.

LJ has been having on and off database corruption issues that swap out icons, it's happened to me and a few others I know. If it doesn't fix itself in 24 hours (be sure to dump your cache when you check), you can email the support team and they fix it pretty quickly.

Cool :) We used to see them more often here, I haven't seen one in person in at least a year. Foxes once every week or two when I'm walking at night, but not raccoons :/

A whole nest of the suckers make themselves cozy in the drainage grates near our house. They often come out to visit on the back porch at night.

Happened to me recently, the pegasus I was expecting spontaneously metamorphosed into a bishie. Ended up deleting and reloading as well.
