It's BACK!
Dec. 28th, 2007 04:11 pmYou would not beleive the hoops I had to jump through to get this recorded. We're talking multiple jump disks, an MP3 player to record audio, and a broken web cam held in place with duct tape and faith. Synching the audio was a freaking nightmare.
At some point in the new year, I'm going out and buying a dedicated digital camcorder with a decent microphone.
Yay!!!!

Took 8 minutes of full colour qvga video, with audio, in Quicktime as a trial: audio was actually very good. Could have gone longer, but the cam was running on alkalines and starting to wear down.
Gave it to The Mate, as she was tiring of her video-without-sound on her cx7300 model. Going to snarf hers for documenting projects in The Workshop.. OF DOOM!

Date: 2007-12-29 09:21 am (UTC)I haven't checked sound quality; I know it's poor, but it might be servicable for your purposes. I'll have to play with my house-brand variant at work and get back to you with a sample. At any rate, you'll want to get a dedicated camcorder, as you suggested, rather than a still camera with video -- even my Canon PowerShot S80, which is a highly respectable high-end model, takes only adequate video with poor compression, 15 minutes taking up 1GB.
I got the packing stuff to box up your Pentax, and it should be on its way in the first part of the new year!

Date: 2007-12-29 11:11 pm (UTC)The mic is non-functional anyway - it always was a prop. :)
