Be cool or be cast out!

Thanks to anidada for this link, of an aucoustic version of Rush's "Subdivisions" by musician Jacob Moon. It's quite good, and worth clicking to the Youtube page to access the high quality version of the video.

Of particular note is the fact that is it recorded on the roof of a cafe/theatre in the West End of my home city of Hamilton, Ontario. The low ridge in the background is "Hamilton Mountain," the local name for the Niagara Escarpment that turns the city into a sort of giant split-level. At various points starting at 2:30, you can see the tower of Christ the King cathedral to the singer's right. My Friendly Local Gaming Store, Bayshore Hobbies, is right across the street!

Pyat shows people around

My little sister and her husband are visiting from Hawaii, in honour of my parent's 40th anniversary. They decided they had to visit the Poutinerie, as featured in these very pages, and today was selected as the day. Though battling a cold and insomnia, I bravely ventured into Toronto to show them the way. We were joined by my older sister and her husband, who, though local, also wanted to try the fantastic melted cheese delights.

I also took them to the Hairy Tarantula, where I was able to show off some of the books I've written and contributed to. I'm a superstar down at the cracker factory!

I've called in sick tomorrow. I intend to spend the day tucked up in bed with the latest Rumpole of the Bailey volume.
