Dreams, sick, coming weekend

I had a dream last night, in which I was trying to find my way home without my glasses, at night. The streets were blurry and strange, but the Piggot Building was on fire, so I was able to use that as a navigation marker. The house was much larger than I expected it to be. I wandered from room to room for a while.

Later, Yoda gathered everyone into the schoolyard across the street, which was frozen, and asked them if they wanted more wisdom. A very old shaman-lady whispered that true wisdom meant that one should not ask for wisdom, so Yoda instructed her to cut out her tongue with a pair of scissors. At that, an officious looking man in a cloak spread a sheet on the ground, and arranged dozens of pairs of scissors on it. The audience, which seemed to be a mix of people dressed in hodge-podge of SF and historical attire, collected these and prepared to snip of their tongues. Then Yoda noted that they should also cut off their noses.

As people were about to do this, Yoda told them to stop! He said he was trying to make a point about following orders blindly. Most people seemed to think he was actually just being a jerk.

And then I woke up.

I'm sick today, staying home from work. This sucks especially because tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage and I are going for a romantic weekend getaway... and I'm sneezing and stuffed up, and blotchy and have a cracked red nose. Sigh. The minivacation was originally scheduled for February, but we had to cancel it when Claire got sick.

This is the hotel we're going to:

Did some laundry and dishes, and cleaning... now I'm just sitting around and watching Phantom of the Paradise on Youtube.

Why not?

Well, if I get any sicker, you might win an all-expense paid night at the Delta Armoury Hotel!

Hey, that's where mrs_dm and I had our wedding reception and wedding night 10 years ago!

::B::

P.S. If you do make it to London despite your attack of catarrah, don't miss "City Lights" (a great used bookstore a block away from the Covent Garden Food Market downtown, with three decent used bookstores nearby) and a block south "LA Mood" for RPGs and other games.

Yup! I've been to City Lights a few times, and LA Mood. My friend Dave lived in London when we were in high school. It was like a magic land of RPG stores.

Actually, it's called the Delta London Armouries Hotel. Yes, lots of fond memories of our wedding reception. For instance, after having the official photos taken in the lobby, and before the dinner, doc_mystery and I checked into our "Bridal Suite" (mainly, just to put our suitcases away) and were surprised to find a couple of girls changing into (or out of) their bathing suits. Quite embarassing, but hey, we had a key. Obviously, the staff had given us the wrong room. We sorted that out in a hurry.

Are you sure they weren't complimentary handmaidens?

It was at the Delta Armouries that I was asked if I and my singing group were on tour. It was Sunday brunch, that happened to be on Mothers' Day, and my four sisters and I were sipping mimosas and contemplating another run at the buffet when the roaming musical trio they had brought in just for that brunch stopped by to ask if we had any requests. We requested "Edelweiss" and then sang along, in harmony (of at least three parts, possibly four). When we finished, the musicians asked us where our next tour stop was, and how long we'd been on the road. That was fun!

Hope you guys have a good time, despite all the apparent obstacles.

A very cool story, thank you. :)

We had a quiet time, anyway. I was still very much under the weather.

Regarding your dream, Pieter. It's just too interesting to pass up. Of course, I can't interpret what it means to you personally; for that I'd need your actual associations to various elements in the dream, as well as feeling-tones. But there are some interesting archetypal images of a general nature. Here's what a Jungian might say about it;

Yoda - represents The Old Man archetype. As a same-sex character (in your case) it probably also represents The Self, a sort of guiding psychological principle, or the highest sum of one's psychic totality

Old Shamaness - represents The Old Witch archetype (an anima figure in your case), sort of a subtype of The Great Mother archetype. A different kind of wisdom, or energy than the Yoda character, who represents the patriarchal/societal type of wisdom.

Official guy in a cloak - A sort of Wizard/Magician symbol. Similar to the Yoda character, but the fact that he's involved in a ritualistic sort of act (laying out an altar of sorts with implements) makes him seem more of a Priest than a King

Marie-Louise Von Franz had something to say about what noses represent in fairy tales, but I can't exactly remember what that was.

Oh, I almost forgot. A House often represents one's own mind/psyche and how values and concepts are arranged in it. For instance, the upper floors of a house normally represent the more spiritual/virtuous aspects of one's psyche and the lower floors/basements represent phylogenetically older/instinctual elements. (So, our psyches are sort of like million year old houses that are constantly being renovated)

Yes, very interesting indeed.

Hmm... I'd better be careful what I write about my dreams around you! *L*

Thank you for your insight, though. Makes me wonder about my frame of mind these day. ;)
