"You and me is goin' for a little ride in the country, see?"

"This is not us! Th... th... this is some hop dream! It's a dream, Tommy! I'm praying to you! I can't die! I can't die... out here in the woods, like a dumb animal!"

"You can't kill me... look in your heart."

I let him go. He's the example! But he has a lot of friends down in the basement. You know what the mice round here say, right? There's always free cheddar. Down at Pyat's Mousetrap.

Yay! One down [number redacted] to go!

What method of capture did you use?

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Five down!

Three in a Tin Cat, one in a snap trap, and one in a "Predator" humane trap.

"Miller's Crossing" is an amazing movie :)

It's probably the bag that he's in, but when you say "I let him go," I can't help but to add on "into the lake, like a litter of unwanted kittens."

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
It would have been even funnier if I'd thrown him into a bag of kittens!

[identity profile] nicodemusrat.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Cute li'l troublemaker.

"Mice"... Are you sure that's a mouse?

And rats go for peanut butter bait even more than cheddar.

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely a mouse - just an extreme closeup. I mostly use peanut butter, or bits of pecan.

I find this quiz is helpful in that department: http://www.ratbehavior.org/QuizRatOrMouse.htm

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I got 11 out of 12!

[identity profile] eggshellhammer.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I got 12 of 12. You fail at rats!

[identity profile] kianir.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Rats are much larger, much less stinky, and much more wiley. My significant other fostered a single mouse once, and after a couple of days its cage stank to high heaven, worse than a week of communal rat shit.

[identity profile] zorinlynx.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mice are so cute. It's a shame that an animal that is so adorable is also such a pain in the ass. :)

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
And a huge mess. I moved some boxes on a lower shelf and... ug.

[identity profile] catarzyna.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He's huge! Or at least he seems to be.

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
He's just very, very close to the camera. I used the macro lens.

[identity profile] catarzyna.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ahhhh...

[identity profile] robin-d-laws.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That isn't Mr. Poison Eater, is it? Because I'm not sure you're doing the world a favor by loosing him into the wild to spread his toxin-immune DNA through the mousy gene pool.

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's one of five I've caught since the weekend - four in humane traps, and one in a snap trap. I have several snap traps set up, but ahve to rebait them over and over, without success.

[identity profile] relee.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha-hah! You got 'em! Way to go Pyatster.

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Five down, an unknown number to go!

[identity profile] dagoski.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, be careful with this exile program. Last time Canada did something like this, the US wound up with cajun rednecks.

[identity profile] bodhifox.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I found a recipe for a chocolate mouse torte, thinking you might be able to use them that way, but it doesn't say how many mice go into each... in fact, it doesn't really mention mice. Hmmm.

Farley Mowat has several recipes for mice in Never Cry Wolf, though it's unclear if he actually ate any...

[identity profile] mrs-dm.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Have you thought of getting a cat? A good mouser would earn his/her keep. And there are plenty of already-spayed and vaccinated kitties at the shelter. They really aren't that hard to look after and the girls would love it.

Piet's got allergy issues with cats. That's why he can only come to my place for 45 minutes at a time.

At least, that's what he tells me.

[identity profile] pyat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
This is sadly true. I am still wheezing from Erin's Aunt Jean's longhaired cat, on Monday.

[identity profile] waiwode.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
My absolutely favourite movie.

Doug.

Just soes youse knoes, the horse mafia will be more than glad to give the little guy, 'a ride he can't refuse'.
thebitterguy: (Default)

[personal profile] thebitterguy 2009-10-14 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
So what kind of head does the horse mafia leave in someone's bed?

[identity profile] hossblacksilver.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
That's why I've said for years that the horse mafia is the meanest, when you cross the Godfather you wake up to find the head of a Sicilian in your bed. n_n

I like you mouse... I kill you last.

Say hello to my leettle friend.
