Working from Home, fragments from the weekend

I went out for a haircut, and came back with a 5" black and white television. I really need a handler, or something.

Elizabeth came with me to Anime North on Sunday. Elizabeth loved the cosplayers, and was mostly good during the panel, which she described as "a really long boring conversation, but I heard you talk about Narnia and mermaids." She also took the only photo of me at one of the panels, with her Fisher-Price camera. Jonathan Lavallee is on the left, me in middle, [livejournal.com profile] jesshartley to the right.

With her trusty camera!

Elizabeth seemed quite taken with these somewhat unnverving costumes, and took several photos of them. I can't remember what this form of cosplay is called - anyone?

After my panel we joined Claire and [livejournal.com profile] velvetpage at the Fantasy Fair at Woodbine Centre, a few kilometres north of the con hotel.

We went on rides!

Lots of them!

Some we went on twice!

The bumper boat ride! None of the boats actually had working steering - a girl in waders pushed them here and there.

I am always amazed by your charming, precocious children and your gorgeous wife. And you too, of course. :)

Why, thank you, ma'am! :)

I don't like those people with pretend faces...
They make me uncomfortable...kinda like those "potato people" that used to be on TV.

They're dressing as dolls, or something. I can't remember the specific term. I also find it a bit creepy, and I say that as someone who happily attends furry conventions. :)

This would appear to be Animegao (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animegao)

That's it!

Animegao

Ack! Creepy!

Thank you. But ack!

OTOH, the black-and-white (Nascar?) zentai suit over at Wikipedia is kinda cool. Found it by following the zentai link in the article you provided.

Why hello there Uncanny Valley! Nice to see you're doing well still.

Creepy? Certainly! But it could always be worse (http://eighty1.net/wp-content/gallery/main/brazil_babyface.jpg).

Babyface, you've got the creepiest little babyface....

It's called Animegao Kigurumi. It's a subset of Kigurumi where people wear skin colour bodysuits and anime-face masks. Kigurumi proper is a more broad form of hobby costuming, sort of like Fursuitting without the furry; they can and will make costumes that look like just about anything.

It's all terribly interesting. ^.^

Some furries have started using the animegao style for their fursuits too, using a different coloured bodysuit and a mask with little muzzlepouchies on the upper lip. It looks really cute, in still photos...

That's the stuff! Thanks, Relee. :)

Glad to help, Mr. Mouse. ^.^
